Our team is committed to make surfing a more Sustainable Sport. We are working hard on reducing our single use plastic, and most of our boards will use only Cardboard Packaging. We are also working on ECO Friendly and Recycled alternative materials to make our boards, both fiberglass and resins.
Our ECO Boards are built using the following materials:
POLYOLA 100% RECYCLED FOAM
Unfortunately, current surfboards and especially their foam core (also known as “blank”), are mostly made from toxic materials that are very hard to recycle. We have developed a more sustainable, high quality polyurethane foam core, based on recycled material which is also 100 % recyclable.
These Blanks are more environmentally friendly and high-quality two-component polyurethane formula, tailor made for surfboards:
- One component is almost entirely made from up-cycled contents (recycled post-consumer polyurethane and a wood component)
- The second component is designed to be healthier for blank producers and shapers working with it, than the chemicals that are currently being used in other foams
MARKO FOAM ENVIRO-FOAM
This is an innovative technology which allows all types of EPS regrind (not just surfboard scraps) to be made into a high grade, moldable material and be put back into production again. Our current Enviro-Foam blanks are made with 25% recycled foam.
KINETIX® Eco-X R135
Solvent free, bio-based epoxy resin. Components used in the manufacture of ECO-X R130 are made from renewable feedstock and byproduct of existing industrial processes. Production consumes less energy and water than standard petroleum based epoxies, and also reduces wastes and greenhouse gas emission.
